with misaligned wheels - the steering is held under constant force of driver hand to keep the car straight. This causes the pump to keep working under high pressure - which eventually kills it due to overheating. I have seen cars driven for years with bad alignment and the end result was very rough.
The rack rubber parts, pressure line, return lines, all rubber hoses cooked hard and leaked. The pump dead from being run on bad oil, The tank was literally coated with sludge from the burnt oil and rubber lines, even the metal pieces of the return line had a permanent coating of varnished dead oil in them (required some aggressive solvents or sometimes a powerful steamer to clean out)
end cost is quite high as all parts need to be replaced - All because customer thinks "alignment is a way to fleece money"
