So as mentioned in my previous post (which sadly was not responded to by anyone), my friend just recently purchased an Oshan X7 and on the weekend we took it to Changan Adil Ashraf motors on Jail road Lahore for 1000 km inspection. Funny enough, when we told them that the car alignment was not right and the car was pulling towards the left they sent the car to another Changan dealership (Chagan Lahore autos) nearby citing reasons that they don't have an alignment shop and the other dealership is a sister dealership having same owners.
So we went along to the other shop and it was a horrible experience. To sum it up, it was as if we had brought to them a stolen vehicle or something. Anyway, we described the alignment issue and some other problems (mainly related to paint finishing which was corrected by applying slight bit of "qalam" to our annoyance)
So the vehicle was placed on the alignment ramp. I also told them that the rear tyres seemed slightly bulging outwards on the lower side and needed camber adjustment which was laughed off by their mechanical staff. That made us change our tone a bit and finally enough they took a look at the matter.
I took this picture during the adjustment process. For the rear Toe they simply said they can't adjust it and told us to take a test drive with their mechanic. The car was still pulling towards the left but the mechanic kept saying it's ok.
Khair we got back to Adil Ashraf motors and expressed our displeasure to the management regarding how things went at the other dealership. The management then got on the phone with the service manager of the other dealership (probably gave him a piece of their mind) and requested us to take the car again there. So we went there again and this time we were treated a bit differently and with courtesy and respect. Front alignment was performed again and the car stopped pulling towards the left. The steering was also adjusted to be in the center. On the way back the manager apologized to us for the earlier experience but after that they served us a bill of 2500 PKR for camber adjustment. We did not contest it much even though we felt it should have been done free of charge and in warranty but they were quick to show us the warranty rules explicitly stating that "alignment and camber adjustment" do not fall within it.
But I must also add here that the service manager Jamshed sahab at Adil Ashraf was highly professional and he even brought into our notice the sligh bit of moisture that had built up in the front right DRL and put that up for replacement in warranty. This was pleasantly surprising for us to be honest.
To sum it up, the Oshan X7 is a wonderful car with good features and a wonderful engine but Changan products as a whole have quality and finishing issues. Even today we got the car washed and I could see bubbles in the left rear lights as well. Ofcourse that would be claimed too in warranty. I saw many Karavans and Alsvins with faulty generator claims but I did notice that the management at the dealership was not using shoddy tactics or trying to wing it rather accepting and processing the claims without much hassle.
