That's not how most customers think in poor old Pakistan.
What you are saying may be what most people want in the west. There people mostly depend on the banks' money - loans - to buy cars. Here, the majority invest their hard-earned cash and expect the cars to last at least a decade.
So, cars made of cheap plastic that will last for only a few thousand miles may be best for the company. and mechanics come to think of it.
My mechanic here always complain that I visit him once every blue moon as my Corolla and Honda that are <2016 work like a charm for years without serious problems.
BTW, this discussion had me thinking that I should go for a lease the next time around when it comes to replacing my car about a decade from now.
I have always bought on cash up till now. But with the pathetic build of modern cars (even Jap ones as you say), spending millions (RS) on a plastic toy will not be the right move.
Although, I have full empathy for mechanics, I prefer my hard-earned money remains in my pocket rather than leaks to auto repair shops.
As always, thanks a ton for your deep insights. It might have saved me millions (again in rupees) going forward. I will also pass this advice to my kids: Never invest hard earned cash on car, lease it to save money.
