Off-roading has just been redefined through the new 2024 Toyota Tacoma hybrid which comes with more power, a rugged design, and a muscular aura. This mid-size truck is ready to compete against the Ford F-150 Raptor and the newly launched Chevy Colorado ZR2.  

Toyota Tacoma – Overview

This sibling of Toyota Tundra features a 5-passenger capacity and 4-door design where it has 131.9 to 145.1 inches of wheelbase depending on the trim levels. The all-new Tacoma has 8 trim levels and the top level comes under the badging of TRD Pro and Trailhunter. Having a ground clearance of 11.5 inches, the front suspension travel is 9.6 inches from the front and 10.2 inches from the rear. This truck can carry almost anything to everything needed for an off-road trip in its flat-bed truck ranging from 5 to 6 feet, depending on the trim.

Engine and Fuel Economy

It draws power from a 2.4 L turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 16-valve, inline 4-cylinder engine mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Capable of producing a combined power of 326 Hp and a peak torque of 465 lb-ft. This truck sprints from 0 to 60 mph in 6.5 to 6.8 seconds while giving a top speed of 110 mph.

The rear/4-wheel drive has a mid-motor arrangement with a 1.4 kWh nickle-metal hybrid battery pack. Amazingly it gives an amazing fuel economy of 23 to 34 mph within city with a slight variation on longer routes.

Other Features

Taco comes with a host of other features including electronic rear diff-lock, off-road cruise ctrl, terrain camera, off-road drive modes, steel rear bumpers, LED lights in grilles, and fog lights. While the Trailhunter has snorkel intake and underbody protection, and Pro TRD has a cat-back exhaust system.

Its upholstery brings comfort and designs for enhancing the off-road experience while the technology features upgrade the long travel with best connectivity and modern specifications. Besides, the 18-inches wheels are there to support challenging routes and rough terrains.
