Jaecoo is launched in 2023 from Chinese car manufacturer Chery. The brand is reserved for export SUV models to Europe, Russia, Malaysia, Middle East and South Africa with sales starting in early 2024 in many markets.
Exterior
On the outside, the Jaecoo J7 sports a boxy design, giving it a premium yet tough look. The J7 also comes with exterior kits such as LED headlights, LED rearlights which sort of resemble the Ford Everest, welcome lights, and a set of 19-inch wheels. The J7 is also fitted with electric flush door handles, a feature yet to be seen in its segment peers like the Honda CR-V, Proton X70, and the Mazda CX-5.
The ground clearance of the crossover is 186 millimeters
Interior
The interior looks interesting: all the details are well fitted, and there are no questions about the finishing materials The interior of the Jaecoo J7 looks interesting: hard and large seats trimmed in leather, an electronic instrument panel, a “floating” multimedia system tablet, massive door handles with exposed hexagon fasteners, an unusually shaped gearbox selector, a high window line and a minimum physical buttons. The buttons on the steering wheel look like touch sensitive buttons, but in fact they are not – ordinary physical keys covered with glossy plastic. The crossover is equipped with 50 W wireless charging. The smartphone will charge from 20 to 80% in just 40 minutes.
Visually and tactilely, it’s pleasant, but in terms of the selection of materials, the car is closer to the mass market than to premium. However, everything was done well: no compromise solutions or “savings on matches” were noticed, as well as frankly cheap, echoing plastic.
Details depend on the configuration: the 10.25-inch electronic instrument panel will remain in any case, but, for example, in the top version the diagonal of the central screen will increase from 13.2 to 14.8 inches, a head-up display will appear, a Sony audio system with eight speakers, and a panoramic roof and electrically adjustable passenger seat.
Engine
The heart of the J7 is a 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine with 194hp and 290Nm of torque. Paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an intelligent 4WD system, the J7 achieves a 0-100km/h acceleration in eight seconds.
Mileage
The plug in hybrid version has estimated mileage of 16 to 20 kilometers per liter
Colors
Jaecoo J7 phev will be coming in four different metallic colors which are not discolsed yet.
